School Provision #109: Sign Up for January Evocative Coaching Training
by Bob Tschannen-Moran, August 5, 2011

Interest in the evocative coaching training program, sponsored by the Center for School Transformation, continues to grow both in the United States and internationally. People tell us that the frameworks and practices of evocative coaching are exactly what schools need at this point in time. Doubling down on the accountability with high-stakes consequences does not make for a climate in which teachers and school leaders can do their very best. What's called for is a method that takes the fear out of the conversation so people can rediscover the art of possibility.

If you work in a school environment and would like to create more of a coaching culture, then the January training program in evocative coaching can assist you to get started. You can either sign up as an individual or enroll an entire group of trainees. Here are examples of people who have recently gone through the program:

  • Teachers and teacher-leaders have registered to enhance their effectiveness with peer-coaching and supervision.
  • school district has enrolled all 50 of their Title I teachers and resource personnel to improve their 1-on-1 interactions with people.
  • A central office and a high school have each sent five administrators through the program to shift their school cultures.
  • Independent coaches and consultants have gone through the program to bolster their coaching skills and presence.

There is no limit as to who might benefit from this program. Indeed, many trainees have commented on how helpful the program has been not only professionally but in their personal lives as well. Given the opportunities to become a "Certified Teacher Development Coach" or a "Certified School Leader Coach" through the Center for School Transformation, the value-added nature of this 20-hour, 2 CEU training program rises above the pack.

Especially when you consider the affordable price point. The regular cost of the training is $895 US per person. With the early-bird discount , the price comes down to $795, which is less than $40 per training hour. The January cohort will be the last cohort to also receive complimentary behavioral style and emotional intelligence assessments as part of an ongoing research project. This $300 value is yours free for participating in the January program. Affordable, 3-month payment plans plans are also available.

Thirteen, 90-minute classes are delivered in a live, virtual classroom that you can access with a telephone from any location. Cell phones and VOIP solutions, such as Skype Out, work just fine. This means there are no extra costs. If you can make a phone call, you can participate in the training program. Classes are currently scheduled for Wednesday evenings, starting on January 18, 2012, at 8 PM Eastern / 5 PM Pacific US Time. More sections will be added as registrations increase, and you will be able to move to other sections if those the dates and times work better in your schedule.

Here is what one trainee had to say about the book and the companion training program: "Evocative Coaching takes coaching into a new realm. Through this book, you learn how to coach the whole teacher, not just one aspect of their teaching, or one area where they need improvement. The coach is given specific steps, dance steps, to move teachers from being in the receiver of information role to the creator of their own improvement. It is an inspirational book that is filled with hands-on approaches that can reach all teachers. I highly recommend both the book and the course which is offered through the Center for School Transformation. In the era of cut backs, Evocative Coaching reminds us of our passion for teaching and brings back that creative flair all teachers have to create dynamic, meaningful lessons."

We hope you will consider signing up yourself or recommending the program to others. Individuals or groups can register for the January training program through our secure server. Groups of 20 or more can contact us to make special arrangements for a dedicated cohort that may start and run at your convenience.
